The Physical Activity and Chronic Disease Prevention Unit at UBC is dedicated to examining the most effective means of improving the health and well-being of Canadian children and youth. We are extremely proud of our varied research and community-based initiatives (such as the Physical Activity Support Line and the Children’s Play Initiative). Each year our laboratory evaluates the movement patterns and/or health status of hundreds children and youth. This includes our work with young parents and toddlers, children within and outside of the school environment, physical education specialists, interactive video gaming, and sport development programming. We also conduct extensive research examining means to enhance the sporting experiences of children and youth.
